Service Overview
High intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) is a non-surgical treatment for lifting and tightening of the skin, for face and body. Small amounts of micro-focused ultrasound energy are delivered to precise depths, without damage to the surface of the skin. This energy immediately tightens collagen fibres, as well as remodelling tissue and inducing the production of new collagen and improvement appearing over time.
What To Expect
Results of HIFU treatment appear gradually, over a period of 3-6 months. Further benefit may be achieved with more than one treatment. This is a non-invasive treatment, and isn’t designed to have the same results as invasive treatments. An initial consult with our cosmetic physicians and nurses will determine whether HIFU treatment is the best option for your skin condition and rejuvenation goals. In most cases, you’ll be given the option of having your HIFU treatment immediately after this consult.
How To Prepare
Patients should ensure skin is well hydrated by increasing their fluid intake for a week before treatment. Cease prescription retinol products 5 days before treatment. Do not take anti-inflammatory medications for 24 hours before treatment. Men should ensure skin is clean shaven on the day of treatment. Do not wear make-up on the area being treated on the day of treatment.
Aftercare
Ice packs will be applied to the skin for 5-10 minutes after treatments, to soothe the skin and help reduce swelling. The treated area, particularly face, neck and decolletage, may be slightly red and swollen after treatment. Prior to leaving the clinic we recommend you apply SPF50+ sunscreen, and shade the treated area with a hat or clothing when in the sun. Make-up can be applied after treatment. Alcohol and strenuous exercise should be avoided for the remainer of the day. You may shower/bathe as normal. If your face has been treated, we recommend sleeping with your head elevated for the first night to limit swelling and puffiness under the eyes.
