Service Overview

Fractionated lasers are safe and effective lasers for resurfacing damaged skin. These lasers make tiny perforations down into the collagen layer of the skin, stimulating new collagen production. New collagen improves the texture of the skin by reversing some of the effects of ageing and sun damage. Results can take 3-6 months to be complete.

What To Expect

You will initially require a consult with our dermatologist, who will review your skin and determine the optimal treatment for your skin and rejuvenation goals. You’ll receive 2 hours of numbing cream, during which time you will be able to relax in one of our private waiting rooms. Treatment time will depend on the size of the area being treated.

How To Prepare

Before your treatment, avoid sun exposure and fake tanning products for a minimum of 2 weeks. Wear no make up on the day.

Aftercare

Immediately after treatment you will experience a sunburn-like tingle and be swollen. Ice packs will be applied to soothe the skin and reduce swelling. Redness and swelling will become more pronounced for 1-2 days, After 3-4 days skin may appear bronzed, feel rough or be flaky. We recommend wearing SPF50+ sunscreen when leaving the clinic. It’s recommended that ice packs be applied for up to 10 minutes, every hour or two, for the rest of the day of treatment. It’s advisable to sleep with your head elevated, if your face has been treated, to limit swelling. You can shower/bathe as normal, using your usual products. Make up can be worn as usual, but avoid applying perfume to treated areas. Treated areas can be shaved gently the following day. Alcohol, strenuous exercise and activity should be avoided for the rest of the day of treatment. SPF 50+ sunscreen should be regularly applied to the treated area until the skin has fully healed. Treated skin should also be covered, or a hat should be worn in the sun.

Before and After

What does fractionated laser treatment feel like?

The sensation of lasers varies from patient to patient and on the area being treated. The degree of damage on the skin surface can also affect sensation. Fractionated lasers require numbing cream and oral analgesia. We strive to ensure all patients are comfortable during treatment. For this reason, we recommend you have a responsible adult collect you after treatment and that you avoid driving for the remainder of the day.

What is the cost of fractionated laser?

The cost of your treatment is dependent on the area being treated, and can range from $1400 - $1950 per treatment, noting that 3-5 treatments are commonly required.

What are the possible risks of fractionated laser treatment?
