Profhilo injections are a subtle yet highly effective way to reduce the early signs of ageing. When you arrive for your treatment, a numbing cream is applied to the areas to be treated. The treatment itself typically takes 30–45 minutes, depending on the areas being treated. After your Profhilo treatment, you will remain in the clinic for about 10 minutes while we apply ice to minimise swelling and any discomfort.
Most patients will benefit from a series of two to three sessions spaced four weeks apart, with maintenance treatments recommended every four to six months to make results last. During this time, the hyaluronic acid gel works deeply within the skin to restore natural facial contours, add volume, and support the production of collagen and elastin.
When you arrive for Profhilo treatment we will apply numbing cream to the area to be treated, and you’ll enjoy one of our private patient waiting rooms during this hour. Treatment will take 30-45 mins, depending on the area/s being treated. You’ll then be asked to stay for at least 10 minutes after the treatment, while icing the treated area. In total, you’ll need to allow about 2 hours for a Profhilo treatment.
Most patients will be recommended 2-3 treatments, spaced 4 weeks apart, for optimal results. Prolonged benefit is achieved by having maintenance treatments every 4-6 months after this initial series of treatments.
Preparing for your Profhilo treatment is simple but important for the best results. Avoid wearing any make-up and sunscreen, on the day of your appointment. Try not to take medications that thin your blood, such as anti-inflammatories, for two weeks before treatment, as this can increase the chance of bruising.
It’s also recommended to avoid having a COVID vaccination two weeks before or after your Profhilo treatment. Being mindful of these steps helps reduce potential side effects like swelling or bruising and ensure that your skin responds well to the injections.
After Profhilo injections, your skin may be slightly red or swollen, which usually settles within a day. Ice packs should be applied intermittently over the first 24 hours to help reduce swelling and bruising. Make-up can be applied immediately, but it’s best to avoid alcohol, strenuous exercise, or heat for the rest of the day.
Once your skin has healed, always use SPF50+ sunscreen to protect your results and maintain your skin’s health. Avoiding a COVID vaccination for two weeks after treatment is also recommended. With the right aftercare, most patients experience minimal downtime and can enjoy smoother, firmer skin almost immediately.
Profhilo is suitable for most adults looking to improve overall skin quality and hydration. To get started, patients need to book either a free consultation with our senior nurse, or a cosmetic consultation with Dr Marianne Nolan ($220). Both consultations include a personalised skin assessment and a tailored treatment plan based on your skin goals.
If Profhilo is recommended, we will try to arrange treatment on the same day, where possible. However, as a busy clinic this cannot always be guaranteed. Profhilo treatment requires numbing cream to be applied for around one hour before the injections, so patients should allow time for the consultation, numbing period, 30-45 minutes of treatment time, and approximately 10–15 minutes of recovery after treatment. Same-day treatment is often easier to accommodate when booking with our nurse.

What is Profhilo?
Profhilo is a bio-reabsorbable hyaluronic acid gel that hydrates, supports, and improves the quality of your skin. It’s designed to refresh your face and enhance your natural contours without changing your face structure.
How does Profhilo work?
Profhilo is made from a high concentration of hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally found in your skin that helps retain moisture and support structure. When injected into specific points on the face, neck, or hands, Profhilo spreads beneath the skin rather than staying in one spot like traditional fillers.
This spreading action hydrates the skin deeply, reaching areas that are often difficult to target with other treatments. At the same time, it stimulates your skin’s natural repair mechanisms.
Who is a good candidate for Profhilo treatment?
Profhilo is suitable for adults wanting to improve skin hydration, reduce fine lines, and enhance facial support. It’s particularly helpful for early signs of ageing or for those looking for a more natural yet refreshed look.
What areas can be treated with Profhilo?
The face, neck, and hands are the most common treatment areas. Treatments can also be customised to target other areas where skin support or hydration is needed.
How soon will I see results from Profhilo?
Most people notice subtle improvements after the second treatment in the series. Full results, including smoother and more radiant skin, appear gradually over several weeks.
How long does Profhilo last?
Results from the initial 2–3 treatments can last 1–2 years. Maintenance sessions every 4–6 months help maintain skin hydration and firmness.
Does Profhilo treatment hurt?
Numbing cream is applied before treatment for comfort. Most patients report a mild sting during injections. Ice packs and oral analgesics are available if needed.
Are there any risks with Profhilo?
Mild bruising, swelling, or redness is common and usually resolves quickly. Rare side effects include lumps, delayed swelling, or skin discolouration, which generally resolve within weeks.
How much does Profhilo cost in Sydney?
Initial consultation with Dr Nolan costs $220. An initial consultation with Rachel Wilson, our senior nurse, is free. Your first two Profhilo injections are $850 each, a third session if needed is $700, and maintenance treatments are $700 each. Prices are subject to change. All prices include GST.
What results can I expect from Profhilo before and afters?
Profhilo gradually improves hydration, elasticity, and skin tone. You can expect subtle facial contouring, smoother skin, and a natural glow.
