Hyperhidrosis

Excessive sweating is a condition known as hyperhidrosis. The sweating can occur under the arms, on the palms of the hands and, occasionally, from other parts of the body.

While there is no medical concern with this condition, it can be very debilitating for those experiencing it. We commonly treat many patients suffering from this condition on the lower north shore, northern beaches and other parts of Sydney.

Treatment for hyperhidrosis

Hyperhidrosis can be treated with injections of the anti-wrinkle injections type A, to the affected area. This is a muscle relaxant which can slow the release of sweat. Treatments remain effective for approximately 3 – 6 months and can be administered under the arms, to the palms and to the face.

Costs and rebates for hyperhidrosis treatment

Some forms of hyperhidrosis attract a Medicare rebate.

The cost of treatment is dependent on the size of the area being treated and, therefore, how much anti-wrinkle injections type A is required. You will be informed of the cost, and given other important information, at your initial consultation with our Dermatologist.

If you are interested in treatment for hyperhidrosis, we suggest you obtain a referral to see our Dermatologist, Dr Terence Poon, from your GP. At your consultation, Dr Poon will assess your suitability for this treatment and provide you with the information you need to make your decision.

In some instances, you maybe able to undergo treatment on the same day as your consult.
